  Acra uses the advertising tag line of "We Do It All with Quality 4 Less," yet, my experience is that a more appropriate tag line might be something along the lines of "We Do Average Quality for a High Price"----at least that was my experience.
  
  This job entailed remodeling a small-sized bathroom (5' x 8 1/2'=42.5 square feet), removing the tub and installing a walk-in shower with splash panel, new plumbing fixtures, new vanity, granite vanity top, new bath light, new bath heater & vent fan, etc.
  
  Acra has a nice showroom with a top-of-the-line selection of tile, cabinetry and bath accouterments. Sales staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Communication was excellent from sales through project initiation to project completion.
  
  Most of the work on this project was seemingly not done by Acra personnel, but rather, by subcontractors----this included subcontracted work by outside plumbing, electrical, tile, glass and granite contractors. Acra personnel handled primarily demolition, drywall and painting.
  
  On our project, the best work was done by the glass (Green Valley Glass) and granite (TAB Tile and Stone, Tucson) subcontractors. The work by the tile contractor (Rocky's Tile and Stone, Green Valley) was mediocre----the tile shampoo inset had to be done three different times before it was level and square----even with the job completed there are uneven (high) corners on various pieces of tile, the relocated floor drain is not perfectly centered, etc.
  
  What was most frustrating about this project was that I felt as though I was the "Director of Quality Control" for the job; my wife and I soon learned that were it not for us keeping a constant eye on what was happening with the job, we could have ended-up with a very questionable result. (An additional concern was that in the middle of the project, between project contract signing and start of the job, Acra Construction changed ownership, with long-time owner Carl Smith selling the company to two of his employees, Kim and Bob Reynolds.)
  
  In the end, the remodeled bath looks modern and decent----but after paying a price slightly in excess of $16,000 (an average remodeling cost of $379/square foot) and with everything we went through-----an "It's Okay" is the rating which is most appropriate.
